It's possible that we may be offering TOO MANY items to choose from in our Online Catalog, and are sensitive to this fact. Time will tell if we need to pare down the selection. Feedback from you is very valuable to us in this respect.

In the meantime, the browsing and search tips below should help you find things faster.. If you have any trouble, we are always willing to give you guidance via telephone (800-889-4081) during business hours. As our user base grows, we may expand the hours that we answer the phone.

Browsing the Categories

At the Catalog Home, you can select a single category from the drop down box called "SELECT CATEGORY" - or look at ALL of the categories by choosing the "See All Categories" tab in the Navigation Bar upper left on the screen.

Each Category has Sub Categories marked with ">>". These are broken down further to help you drill down to the group of products you intend to learn more about, or even purchase.

General "search" tips for the Stage Technology online catalog:

• Do not include any quotation marks for Keywords when searching.
• To search for items, click on the "Find an Item" tab in the Navigation Bar upper left on the screen. Then enter any piece of information into the lower field as a "Keyword". It should be part of the description of the item. It could be the name of the manufacturer (i.e. "Altman" or "Diversitronics"), the name of a product (i.e. "Fresnel",or "Strobe"), or a mfg. part number (i.e. "65Q" or "50S-2"). This is a very fast and simple "text search".
• Stage Technology part numbers, reserved for the upper field, can be obtained by looking in our printed catalog newer than 2001. You may order a copy from this site if needed. Be advised that the printed catalog has only a partial list of our offerings. There are many more items on our web site
• You may enter information in EITHER field, or BOTH fields simultaneously. For instance, you will notice that all of the Roscolux filters begin with the Stage Technology part number "70-20". Try the following as a simple test:

  In the top box, enter "70-20", and in the bottom box enter the word "purple". See what comes up in your search. Go ahead and put a check box in one of the "See Details" boxes and click "See Details". The line should drop down to reveal more information. Then click on a "Related Item" and see what happens. Now you're browsing! Go ahead and throw a quantity of 1,000 in the "Qty" field. Click "Add to Order Form", and then go to your form.

  Do this without fear of ordering by mistake. These actions do not set anything into motion. This is not live e-commerce. You can print a copy of your Order Form to use as you wish. Or save it for future reference. We will not do anything until you fax, mail, call, or e-mail us to place the order.

"Search" tips for lighting fixtures, parts & accessories:

• Isolate every ellipsoidal in the system to one group by typing "ellipsoidal" (without quote marks) in the "Keyword" box.. Sort the group by price by simply clicking on "price" at the top of the column.
• If you want to isolate all items that are parts or accessories FOR ellipsoidals, we have intentionally misspelled the word as "ellipsoidl". You may browse all PARTS/ACCESSORIES for these by entering the keyword "ellipsoidl".
• Isolate every fresnel in the system to one group by typing "fresnel" in the "Keyword" box.
• If you want to isolate all items that are parts or accessories FOR fresnels, we have intentionally misspelled the word as "fresnl". You may browse all PARTS/ACCESSORIES for fresnels by entering the keyword "fresnl".
• ETC fixtures can be isolated using the key word combination "Source Four".
• Parts and accessories for ETC fixtures can be isolated using the keywords "S4", "S4 Par" or S4 Jr".
• Strand Ellipsoidals can be isolated using the keyword combination "SL Series".
• Parts and accessories for Strand Ellipsoidals can be isolated by using the keyword combination " Strand SL"
• Altman Shakespeare Ellipsoidals can be isolated by using the keyword combination "Ellipsoidal S6"
• Parts and accessories for Shakespeare can be isolated by using keyword combination "S6 Ellip".
• Other key words to use for common fixture lookups are "Followspot", "Borderlight", "Cyclight", "Zip Strip", "Scoop" "Par 64", "Par 56", "Par 46", and "Par 38".

"Search" Tips for Curtains, Backdrops, Scrims & Cycloramas

By simply entering a two-digit number for "height", plus "X", plus a two-digit number for "width" in the Stage Technology Part Number field, you can bring up every piece of soft goods in our system of that size (must be in one foot increments). For example, try typing 08X30 in the Part Number Field and see what comes up.

You can further narrow your search by entering the fabric type in the KEYWORD field. For example, type 08X30 in the Part Number field and VELOUR in the KEYWORD field. You should then see only velour curtains that are 8' high x 30 ft wide.

• Remember that dimensions of single digit must have a "0" before them, such as "04", "05", "06" etc.
• Sizes can be priced in one-foot increments only. You can tell us at time of order to reduce, for instance, a 4' high Valance to 3'-6", but the price will be the same as a 4' high Valance.
• Many scrim, muslin and canvas drops can be made "up to maximum height" without an additional charge. This is determined by the width of the cut(s) of the raw material. We would rather sew the extra into the height of your drop (if appropriate) than to throw a strip of fabric away. See "tips" attached to your product description to determine the maximum height for the price of your drop.
• Fabric Keywords include "velour", "25 oz", "21 oz", 16 oz", "commando", "muslin", "canvas", "sharkstooth", "leno", "seamed", "seamless", "black", "white", "natural", "sky blue", "gray". Use any of these in the Keyword field in combination with a size in the Stage Technology Part Number field. This will narrow your search.
